Anyone use this for chloramines in RO water for SPS tank? Seems like a cost effective way to combat chloramines if it's effective.

You shouldn't let chloramine contact your RO filter membrane. It will damage it. Instead add an additional carbon cartridge using regular or catalytic carbon or one of the specialty chloramine reducing cartridges.

http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-05/rhf/index.php#5 (see the note on the carbon cartridge) "The primary purpose of this activated carbon is to break down the chlorine and chloramine in the tap water (Figure 2). If not removed, these compounds may damage the RO membrane. They will also pass through the remaining filters (RO and DI) fairly readily, and so can end up in the final filtered water." -- Randy Holmes Farley

on mine I run tap water-> 1 mic sediment-> 1 mic carbon-> chloramine-> booster pump -> RO -> DI

I have a 4 stage (sediment, carbon, RO, DI). Is that sufficient? I was under the impression the reg. carbon doesn't get all the chloramine. If not could I just replace the carbon with chloramine block or should I add a stage? I have to replace my TFC membrane soon anyways and was just wondering if Prime works and is safe for SPS to get me by until I can add the stage or chlor. block. Thanks!

Mine was like yours. I just added an additional canister in before the RO unit.

I have a Kent Hi-S 4 stage I bought about 14 years ago. It's the standard size so I'm sure the BRS or Buckeye canister will be compatible. Thanks for all the helpful info! Will order the canister and chloramine block asap.
