I've had my tank up and running for about a year and a half now but just recently decided to start adding corals.
I dropped in my first star polyp on Thursday, within 2 hours all buds were out and wiggling. And last night I noticed that it sure looks like I've got new buds forming that are physically attached to the rock... I stuck my finger in and wiggled with it a little and it seemed "stuck" to it.
Is there any chance that it would already be growing?
Tank information
90 Gallon Oceanic Bowfront
20 Gallon Sump
Protein Skimmer (in sump)
Bag full of De-Nitrite (brand?) granules (changed every 4 months or so) (in sump)
Bag full of Granulated Carbon (also changed about 3 times a year) (in sump)
130 Pounds LR
1 1/2" Sand Substrate
Lots of good water movement provided by water return from the sump as well as 3 powerheads hidden in the LR.
4 - 65 W 50/50 Coralife (Acitinc and 10000k)
Water Quality
Temp = 81
PH = 8.0
KH = 11-12
C02 = 3.5
Nitrite = not measureable
Nitrate = barely measurable
Chemicals
2 tablespoons per week of
Kent Iodine
Kent Calcium
Kent Essential Minerals and Nutrients
Phytoplankton (don't know the brand... and I know its not a chemical but it gets added at the same time)
Critters (all have been in there for over a year)
2 Pajama Fish
2 Clowns
1 Lawnmower
2 Damsels
1 Mandarin (Had him for over a year... 8O I must be doing something right)
2 Sea Urchins (great at cleaning off the LR)
1 Brittle Star
1 Turbo Snail (He'll be leaving shortly)
5 Cone shaped (don't know the name) snails I like them much better....
I had some hermits, but they were getting too big... 2 had killed and taken over some of the turbo snails... (Should I add in some other sort of crab?)
