I bought a rock with about 5 red pimple shrooms at the last frag swap. They are still really small and dont seem to be expanding. Should i try moving them around? Should i put them in more light or less? what is going on?
Generally keep them in low flow with low to medium light. If the shrooms are disc. species then if they are not getting enough light, they will attempt to stretch into the light (in my experience). If they are not shrunk up (from too much light) or stretching then they are probably getting enough light. Sometimes they just take time to adjust to a tank.
leaffish-
sorry to hear about your problems...what is your salinity,ph,kh, and calcium levels at?I would look here if the flow, and the light are not to much.Good luck.
i had a similar problem so I put mine in the shade, now they are happy as ever.
I also hit them with the baster frequently, they seem to pick up a lot of detritus (or excrete it, i dunno).
well they are in moderate flow. I might move them by my others. as far as light they are under 110watts of pc light plus an aditional 24 watts of t-5.
I will move them to the shade. I got a calcium test kit (hagen) it sucks. according to it my Ca is above 700!!!!! im getting a salfrit (spelling) this weekend.
Did a nitrate test and if i read the hight side its 12 but if i read the low side its 2. Not sure what side i should read.
I would say you are on the right track now.Get some new test and confirm what the readings actually are.If either the kh or ca are to high or to low it will stress mushrooms.
