Hello All,

A quick question. I have a small red montipora digitata frag that has been doing very well for several weeks. I notice a bit of white fuzzy stuff on the back side last night, and thought little of it. Today, about 3/4 of the coral is covered with a fuzzy looking white coating. It doesn't look like bleaching, but rather more like a fuzzy coating. Any thoughts on what might be going on?

Thanks,
Trey

I have no clue, but it's probably not good. I would give it some more flow, but not too much or perhaps a freshwater dip. many times there is nothing you can do but pray and try a few different things, and sometimes you get lucky. Hopefully some of the more experienced SPS'ers will chime in.

It could be that something is burning it. This would occur periodically with my Monyis when salt (from salt creep) on the rim would get knocked into the tank and land on a coral. Direct current will blow it away and the corals will recover nicely.
