So, at the risk of sounding like I have no idea what I am talking about.. I got this used set up about 7 or 8 months ago and the skimmer pump was siliconed due to frayed wire I am guessing.

Anyway, it totally went out on me. I know it is a sicce Psk(something) and that's about it. I have no idea what model protein skimmer I have. All I know is that it is a reef octopus rated for over 180 gallons.

Unsure about the different psks and what else would or would not fit..

Point of post is that I have no idea what pump to get or if I should just get a whole new skimmer.. and any help would be very much appreciated.

Here's what I would do, measure your skimmer and then Google Reef Octopus skimmers about that size. Keep scrolling until you find the one that closely matches your dimensions. See what pump it runs and get that one. That's if you're looking to get a replacement pump.

I would start with a replacement impeller if the pump still looks good.

Lastly, and probably the option I'd run with, get a new skimmer. The majority of the costs of a new skimmer is the pump. If you buy a replacement pump, my guess is it's about 50-60% the cost of just buying a whole new skimmer, or the same costs as buying another used one.

Alright then. Thank you. Yeah. I was going to go with just an impeller but the silicone on the frayed wire probably means it's time to retire the pump as a whole.

That's the best advice that you'll get. Coralvue is the place that you should buy the pump from.

It looks like a Reef octopus extreme 160 or maybe 200, the pump is a sicce psk-2500. You can buy a replacement pump from coralvue, aquacave, marinedepot, etc.
