Hi. We are new to the hobby too. We bought a used Euro Reef 250 protein skimmer for our 210g and it's a work horse. We converted it to recirculating (which took hours to research on how to do, but only about 30 minutes to actually do the conversion). If you find one of these used... it's awesome. We had to buy a new pump (no biggie) and then a second pump for the recirculating part, but it does an great job. A lot of what we read said to go big... you can always run it in intervals if it is skimming too much. We leave ours on all the time and haven't had to worry about overstocking or overfeeding our fish. Just my 2 cents... and in basic terms (little slow on the fish terminology).
