I just noticed tonight that there is slime in my ATO container... I have a 5 gallon tank in the stand of my Oceanic 29 gallon biocube that I use as my ATO reservoir. Anyways, tonight while doing a WC and topping off my container I had to dig my hand into it to reconnect my hose running from the pump to my tank. When I pulled my hand out it was super slimy as well as my pump... The container doesn't have a lid on it but the stand is decently sealed off. What can I do to prevent this from happening? I'm using RO/DI water with 0 TDS after the DI and if it would help, I could use a 5 gallon water container next to the tank instead of the 5 gallon tank below. Thanks!

Clean the dang thing out ever now and then. It's gonna get some stuff in it no matter what you do. How long since you've cleaned it last?

That's quite a while. Dust and what not has a way of making its way in. Whenever you see it start getting sketchy, clean it out, then you're good to go.

Thanks Cody, sorry it has taken so long to get back with you, I just finished testing the perimeters of my tank after the water change.

Careful guys, that normally is just the white bacteria we find in nutrient reducing products a lot. So no biggy other then it will screw up the oxygen level in the reservoir ;-)

But seriously, if that stuff becomes dark, thats really bad, and even worse, it can also become very very rarely an adapted marine fungus in your tank.
And that's no fun !

So keep the dang thing clean boys :bathbaby:

Happened to me in my ATO brute trash can too. Also noticed that the first and 2 chambers of my BRS Rodi unit have green algae on the filters. There is a window in that room. Does anyone know if it's bad that I haven't changed those 2 chambers in 1 year? They got green after only month 2, my TDS IN shows 11, OUT shows 0?
