i have about 25lbs of small live rock. 1"-3" in size that i had in my wet/dry of my old tank i put it in my 75 gal one night (few to many)
anyways now that i've added rock to my tank right now its in the way
and was wondering where it might do the best good. in my overflow or in my sump where the water comes in? just would like to put it somewhere
till i find places in my tank.(if there is any)

If you put it in your sump make sure it will not trap all the detritus. You could use a filter sock or if your sump is set up where there is a chamber where the water first enters (that catches detritus) and then there is another chamber (where detritus doesn't get to) then I would put it there until you find room for it elsewhere. If anything you could use it as frag plugs to attach corals to.

Ok if you put them in the first chamber of the sump all the detritus that flows into your sump from your tank will get trapped in all the live rock and will create a nitrate factory. Or do you use a filter sock?

Another idea is if you are setting up an area in your sump that will have sand and caulerpa you could use the small pieces of live rock as pod breeding grounds. I have noticed that my pods really use the live rock that is in the sump with them. They are crawling all over it.

I love the filter sock but be sure to turn it inside out before cleaning it. I tend to find a whole bunch of pods, snails and crabs in there. No reason to waste them.
