Ok...at the Fish Ranch, they have several refugiums with hundreds of small starfish on the tank walls. Anyone know the species? Any info on them? I have several as hitchikers on my live rock, and it looks like they are multiplying fast!

OMG ~ you have GOT to get them out of your tank!!!!!!!!!! Bring them all to me and I will dispose of them properly! CAREFUL ~ they're toxic!!!

Hehe, just joking. Lucky you ~ you got a bunch of beneficial stars that will be a great part of your cleanup crew. Are they white or greyish/banded?

They are greyish banded and i think they have 6 arms, but most seem to be splitting and multiplying.

dollarz81- that is awesome man. I wish i had your questions. At what rate are they splitting? If it too fast for your tank, I will be only too glad to take a few off of your hands for you!

I have an overabundance of these same stars and they are great for trading! Your description matches perfectly the kind of brittlestars I have. Feed 'em and they'll multiply insanely.

You should be sprinkling a little bit of food every few days for your cleanup crew...powdered brine shrimp pellets and flakes of spirulina would be perfect. Your hermits, if not well fed, may attack your snails. The brittlestars will eat anything from what I can tell. They get whatever I happen to feed the tank, mostly Cyclop-Eeze, tons of baby brine shrimp (because of the seahorses in my 'fuge), occasionally Golden Pearls, and frozen mysis shrimp. They really love the Cyclop-Eeze.
