Nice set up.looking @your chiller and where you are going to place it, make sure that your intake and exhuast fans produce enough cfms to remove that heat.its a confined space for the amount of heat that refrigeration unit is going to produce. If you don`t remove it fast enough, your compressor will kick out on high head pressure. Its just a thought. :D

It's looking really nice, and I see you put a couple vents up above the tank. Very smart move not to box in the heat.

I know its a little late for this, but did you put an AC vent in to help control the heat?

If not you can still put one in the top. For the bottom you will have to remove that outside sheetrock

Cabinet will have pretty significant air flow by the way it's designed. The chiller and the MH lighting here at the top of the list as far as issues that had to be delt with.

I'll just have to see if the design lives up to what i was trying to do.

I was trying to add a few more pics but got the message that my upload limit was reached. I looked at the picture gallery but did not see a way to add one. Can someone help me out on this? I was able to add the pics to the duplicate thread I have on Reef Central if you would like to see them.

most of these forums have a pretty low limit in terms of picture space available for users (especially guests). I'd recommend getting an account on photobucket.com (or some other file serving website). It's simple to place the img tags in your post and you can resize as needed, and the free account has a gigabyte of space, which should be plenty.

My pleasure, I hope it helps and I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures! You've an awesome setup in the works, and I'm quite jealous with the space you have to put it. The largest tank I can reasonably accommodate in my house is about 150 gallons, but maybe I should move?

Couldn't seem to make Kodak gallery work so photobucket it is!

Here are a couple more pictures of the progress

Now I just need to paint the room so I can get to plumbing. I'm hoping to have the room painted, the plumbing done and at least fresh water in this sucker to check for plumbing leaks by the end of next week. Then I can start the transfer of all the rock and corals from my other tanks into their new home.

Again, I'm impressed. The cabinets look great, but I can't tell what finish they have (if any). You mentioned painted the room, is the plan to paint the cabinets like the trim and other cabinets? And are you planning on finishing the inside to prevent any potential expansion from moisture?

what is your estimated evaporation rate? would guess somewhere around 15-20 gallons a day. do you have plans for auto replenish via ro system?

if not, would hate the daily regimen of just topping off.

curious.

BTW looks awesome, my CFO wouldnt approve this expenditure.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.

Crvz I am not sure if I will paint the inside of the stand or not. There are 2 reasons (other than being lazy). The air circulation in the cabinet will be constant so I don't expect a humid enviroment. Two, My guess is if I were to have water damage it would happen on the bottom rails that are bolted to the floor as they are the only parts that could have any standing water. Having said that I am open to other information.

The exterior will be painted the same as the rest of the room which is being completly repainted. It was built to match all the other walls, fireplace mantel and cabinets in the room. What you see in the picture is unfinished wood.

R-BallJunkie, I just moved from your area. I use to live in Glenshire East right off West Airport. Given the constant movement of air in and out of the cabinet, I do expect a significant evaporation rate but would have no idea on how to calculate that. I have a couple ideas for top off. I thought about having an RO unit line plumbed to the room but decided not too. I know many people have done it but since there isn't a drain in the floor, it made me nervous. I didn't want a constant supply of water flowing into the cabinet when I was away just in case something went wrong. I will most likely use an elevated holding tank that will gravity feed my sump and use a float valve. That way should there ever be a problem the water to the floor will be limited.

I also paid my dues today so now I guess I'm an official Marsh member.

Well here is the latest pic. I will start the pumbing tomorrow or Wednesday. I may end up being a little ahead of schedule and might be able to run it with freshwater by the end of the week.

Bullitt0519, This will be a mixed tank.

Things are starting to get exciting now.
