Over the last few days, I have found some 10 small star fish all over my tank, the are small, black and white and have long legs. So far they seem to have done no harm. Have they given anyone any bad experiences?

Sounds like micro brittle stars... They are harmless and actually good for your tank.

Do they look like this?

I got a bunch of them with some corals I bought and was worried they were bad at first. But now I probably have 20+ in my tank, all waving their arms for food!

+1 on micro brittle. Add some new rock lately? They likely hitchhiked in. They are good for your tank.

Thanks everyone, that's exactly them John. I saw one or two legs sticking out of the rock for some time, but they never came out, now all of a sudden they are all over the place.

from the the hair algae expert to MArsh, thanks.. the star fish are actually tiny, nothing like that eel you had that you could never see because of the hair algae... BTW what ever happened to that tank and eel?
