Subaru vs. Mazda (help me pick my new car) (1 Viewer)

I'm trying to decide between the 2010 Subaru Impreza 2.5i 5-door or the 2010 Mazda3 S Sport 2.5l 5-door. Either model will be manual tranny. I did my research and have driven both and really cannot decide. What do you guys think?

I have a white Impreza worked out right now. New 2010 5-door, white, tinted, w/ fog lamps and roof rails. Con: steel wheels which can be taken care of. GREAT DEAL

Drove the Mazda3 today and talked w/ the sales guy. Will be about a grand more. Much better interior and zoom zoom feel.

Thoughts?

the mazda3 interior is a notch above most in its price range. I have had a mazda3 since they came out in 2004.. I bought a sedan when they came out in 2004 and traded it in at the end of 07 for a mazdaspeed 3.. nothing wrong with the sedan, never had an issue with either vehicle, but i need more zoom zoom

I like the impreza and the awd, but with the lack of turbo and if you dont plan on racing it, the 4wd becomes pasable.
decent set of tires on the mazda3 and it can handle anything around here.. now if you are going to find twisties or autocross, maybe awd is for you

No sedans for me. I planned to test drive the mazdaspeed but they didn't have one at the dealer. So sad. Out of my price range anyway.

get a used mazdaspeed, under 8-10K miles. who needs to take a hit on new? drove in marios, pretty sick ride.

These days used is a harder market than new. With the economy in the shape it is everyone is buying used. Thus the deals are few and far between. I can manipulate the salesmen much easier with new cars. You are right though, I'll still take a hit.

Man my 07 suby was sexy and fun as hell. I spent many GOOD times flying down the gravel roads out at the ranch. Drifting on corners w/ all wheel drive at 45mph on dirt is FANTASTIC! I do alright without a turbo.

MUCH more nimble, tons faster, looks better etc etc
I am part of a large mazda forum and group here in houston have ALOT of friends in the area who have traded from a mazda3 sedan/hatch to a mazdaspeed.. if you dont want to buy it, dont drive it, its addicting lol

I wish the soob's had as good a ride as the Mazda 3. They really screwed up with this new gen. I love the looks and hate the ride. Not sure how it could get that much worse.

Picked up my 2010 Mazda 3 S 5-door yesterday. 70 miles on it so far and loving every minute of it. The 6 speed tranny is lots o fun.

My subaru was black on black though, so I'm pretty used to it.
