how many watts and how long should it be on? it's a good size sump on my 75g. but i think its more for a 100 or more.

Technically a sump doesn't need lighting. If you are using your sump as a refugium or ecofilter then you need some lighting. Your going to get alot of different answers to this question, but I think it boils down to whatever works. I personally have a 30 gal ecofilter with 4 24w T5's on a reverse lighting schedule. I in the past (on a different tank), I had a 10gal refug with 2-13w PCs running 24/7. Both set-ups have done well and I had a lot of growth. If your growing just macro algea in it I would go with 24/7. If you are growing frags in there too I would do a reverse schedule as the corals seem to do better IMO.
