The secret is to feed them at the same time of day everytime you feed them. They will start to come out at feeding time.

The secret for getting them to "pop" when they naturally want to be closed is to tease them with some Cyclop-Eeze placed in the water about 15 minutes before any friends or family are coming over. :D

In that case you might want to wait on Neptunes til others say it is worth it. I think there is some push to try and talk to the owners, to make Neptunes a worthy store.

Just FYI:

I picked up a Sun Polyp Combo from AC yesterday. They only came out in the dark last night, but a healthy dose of cyclopeeze in the water this evening made the polyps (both yellow and black) come out beautifully!

So... I'd go with the "feed them at a normal time" approach to getting them to open.... Plus, I have them off to the side, so they get "side light" but no direct light...

i paid $11 and change for a candybar sized tube. i guess like a snickers bar but a little bigger? i'm just using it to feed my inverts, so i didn't need a ton. talk to the owner. my first impression is that he's a nice guy who listens well. he can recommend to you how much to give when feeding if you'd like.

i'm just mixing a small amount with phytoplankton and target feeding. it really got the bubble coral reaching for more.

Kenny at Aquatic Center sells it too.

KeeperoftheMoon, Neptunes on Friday or Saturday seem worth a visit. They get thier shipment in on Thursday.
