I have that same ballast it is a Triad ballast works great. The reflectors in that kit are the good ones and end caps are end caps :) that would be a good kit and the price is good too. You can compair at www.reefgeek.com thats where i got mine.

I just realized this comes without bulbs. I found a guy in Austin that sells the T5 retro kit with bulbs for $125, think I'll check and see what brand ballast and bulbs he offers for that price.

I'm running PC lighting currently and plan on adding a 2 bulb T5 set now and another set later. What comination of bulbs would you recommend on the first set. ? I have no SPS and don't plan on adding any to this tank (55g) only softs and lps currently. I keep reading something about blue plus. My goal is to provide better lighting to aid in better growth.

That isn't a bad price, though you would come close piecing it all together off a site like reefgeek.
I have that same ballast for sale on the buy/sell forum.

don't know about the seller, but the stuff in that auction is good. The only thing that I might not buy, if I were purchasing all the components seperately, is the reflectors. The Tek reflectors aren't as good as the Icecap SLRs and the Sunlight Supply reflectors according to most people.

other than that, the ballast is great.. everything is straightforward on the wiring. endcaps are endcaps.

The best T5 bulb combination for coloration and growth is half Aquablue 11000k and half Blue+.

Mike, that would be really really blue?

I had 2x 6500K and 1 Actinic and 1 Blue PLUS and it looked really nice.
