Contemplating making an order for some rock and sand. I don't really need that much, wondering if anyone else out there needs some & we could combine a shipment.

I'm down for some sand. Maybe a little rock too. Definitely put me down for 10 pounds of sand though.

I wasn’t even thinking about sand. I could use around 10 lbs of sand as well

If you're looking for the biological benefits of their product, the sand is by far the way to go. I've purchased from them multiple times and always grab some, even if I don't terribly need sand. Pound for pound, it has FAR more surface area than the rock, is cheaper per pound than rock, and has basically no risk of unwanted hitchhikers. While I love the look and benefits of their rock, the sand is great way to boost your ecosystem on a budget.

Sweet. Ok, I reached out & they are out of premium live rock right now, should have some in a month or so. When it comes back in stock I'll reach out & we'll put an order in.
I think a lot of biodiversity died off in the gulf with warm waters this past year. I wonder what the rock looks like underwater right now. Cyano?

That's a fair point. I heard Florida waters got to something stupid like 90 degrees in certain area. I wonder how that's going to effect things.

From what I have seen in posts on other forums, TBS, KP, and the other companies are harvesting very nice rock. Probably why they are sold out! ;)

Good call I’ll go heavier on the sand when we order

Yeah southern Florida waters reached 105* surface temps!!! 99% of coral reefs have bleached... all the farming to regrow frags that they spent a decade on bleached and gone.. hobbyist aren't the only ones to loose money. TBS hasn't been the same for years after multiple big hurricanes going through the waters. Biodiversity has gone way down. Toilet bowl Gulf. KP rock?... fireworm rocks? I have some siting it stagnant water w/ salinity high in a small tank with no flow. Them worms and pods still alive.

I picked up a piece of KP rock a few weeks ago and put it in a small tank to see what came with it. Can’t believe how many fireworms/bristle worms were in that thing

I’ve had both TBS and KP Aquatics. I like KP’s rock better. It’s very clean and the shapes are better. Beautiful coralline algae and sponge growth. That’s on their starter rock. They have older rock, but it has macro’s like TBS. I’d rather avoid all the plants.

Not yet. I reached out to them & they said they would notify me when the premium rock was available. As soon as I hear from them I'll post here so we can organize an order.
"Don't" .... new phrase code for its okay, according to our administration 🤣 ... like Cody said the sand is the biodiversity haven. The trick is not to expose it to air, not even for a second. Thats how precious the biodiversity is. I've been to TBS and went through the whole process from start to finish. Gas the boat @4am and finish off with Cuban sandwiches when done @2 pm. They have/had a 5000 gallon cryptic tank to act as the deep water sand/micro/macrofauna when rocks were in the holding facility. This kept the bacteria alive. The KP firewoms I'm still pulling from a stagnant tank high salinity are 1' these guys bore thru the rocks. That's why you see such nice looking little holes.
