How long can you leave a tank with just 4" sand? I am running a 2' bubble stone and a small ph for circulation. I'm going to get a lg. LR Sat. to put in it for now. What else should I do. I need a new ph for my HOT skimmer and that's coming 1st of next week. I want to take this one slow and get it right. Any suggestions?

Come on guys..I know some of you have ideas. The board has been dead for awhile and now a question that challenges the mind. Give me some recomendations. Mikester? Brandon? TTTTTTom?

I don't understand - is the sand bed alive, or is it fresh sand? If it's just fresh sand out of a bag, then you have nothing to worry about - maybe just use a powerhead so the water doesn't get stagnant. If it's live sand, then also using the airstone is a good idea.

Might want to watch the temp also.
Don't want the water to be too cold to start.
