Even though I am sick with the flu, I felt I would take some pics to today since I've been promising them for a couple of months. So here are the pics from today for the people who've been bugging me...LOL

looks nice, in the process of setting up my 300 and really like the idea of the BB but not sure about how it looks / performs conpared to the sand. how does it look up close? does the bottom end up covered in coraline? are the acrylic stick noticable? I have heard of other guys putting the cutting board on the bottom did you research this at all advantages disadvantages if any? just worried about which is the best / nicest way to go from the start. I think the BB would be a lot easier to clean as my tank now gets bad at the sand line and scratches when the magnet gets sand in it.

The acrylic rod is almost impossible to see. As far as using starboard/cutting board....just another added expense and another place for detritus and food to build up. With the 2 Vortechs and my barebottom....I have no buildup of any kind and I don't have to worry about sandstorms or the sandbed becoming a possible nutrient sink disaster.

Thanks.....Melev gave me some pointers I'm going to try the next time I snap some photos. The settings I used on my camera were the only ones I could get the true colors to come out in. Unfortunately it also made the FTS look incredibly dim. The black background dosen't help with the overall brightness of the photos either. Still not too bad for a 6 year old camera that's only 4mp.

I had the opportunity over the last few days to pick up some real cherry pieces for my tank. Some came from the frag swap, some came for LFS's, and others came from reefers local to me here in Beaumont. Here is a list of the new pieces.........

ORA Nathan's Green Millepora
ORA Red Planet Table
Superman Montipora Danae
Purple Tip Acropora Turaki
Orange Crush Acanlord

I will post pics in a few days once everything has acclimated and opened up completely.

With the addition of all the new corals I had to do a complete rearrange of my tank. For the most part I took and moved my entire rock structure back around 4"-5" freeing up some much needed space up front on the bottom. With the purchase of a few encrusting montis and chalices my bottom front quickly became a crowded unorganized mess. Everything looks good now....if I can just keep my hippo tang from rearranging things on his own. I will try to snap some pics this weekend or later today.

the hippo is a real pest at times with frags, mine keeps swimming over my crocea clam, preventing it from opening up.
love the tank shots, will this be a strictly sps tank, no lps or softies.

My hippo doesn't just move frags........he moves 5"-6" rocks around. I'm thinking very seriously about selling him....even though he is my favorite fish. My male blonde naso isn't much better though.

The tank has no softies except for zoas. There are some LPS, but not much. The tank is about 95% SPS. I already have 22 different SPS species in my tank which are all either ORA, Tyree, or some other form of LE. There's about 10 more pieces that I want to get. I just don't have anymore room.
