I wanted to start a thread on where you have eaten or just ate at for the first time and tell everyone what you thought about it.

I just brought the wife and kids to the Hard Rock Cafe downtown for the first time. The memorabilia was pretty cool and the food wasn't bad. Not the greatest but decent. I'd like to get a lot of input so we can share our experiences and give others a few ideas on new places to eat.

What's this Korean Fried Chicken that you speak of? The real deal is a hof (호프). They do draft beer and a platter of fried chicken like no one's business, but it's generally just fried chicken. Nothing special about the seasoning.

This summer, I'm feeling the raw oysters. I've been eating them like no one's business and I'm loving it!

You know the Korean cuisine way better than me, not sure what the hof is. True seasoning not all that special but having the soy garlic for the first time was heaven lol!
Know any good Gumbo places around town. Hopefully people are free for collecting this weekend. So hopefully I can get some fresh Gumbo off the coast

I like the Hard Rock. There is a pizza place within walking distance called Roma's at 233 Main St, Houston, TX 77002 that is awesome! Also in the area are many places in the tunnels that are worth a look. I get something new every time I'm there.

We ate at Cane Rosso this weekend... new Neapolitan place on Shepard/19th. absolutely the worst pizza ever. Soggy and tasteless.
Stay away.
But go across the street to Fat Cats Creamery or Hugs n Donuts... yum! :D

Killen's BBQ -- brisket moist & beef ribs are worth the wait. Side dishes are so-so...fries are good and cooked to order. Bread pudding & Carrot cake are delicious!
Killen's burgers -- eh...good but nothing great. Cheese curds are the best I've had outside Wisconsin...they actually squeak when you eat them.
Lupe tortilla -- chicken fajitas are marinated in extra limey marinade
Spanish flower -- carne guisada and fresh tortillas brought to your table.
Taste of Texas -- everything...but too $$$ for me :(

I eat out way too much

We used to go to the Pearland Los cucos all the time (about 2 miles from my house), but the last few times the food has been bland and tastless....but I LOVE their salsa/red sauce!

Hugo's in Montrose.
It is a little pricey and you shouldn't show up in flip-flops and shorts. but it has amazing food.
Had the lamb chops once and it was a total mind blow. Service is really really good.

Barnaby's Cafe
Best burgers in town!

The Original Nifas on Navigation.
Amazing Mexican food. The guacamole and the Margaritas are the best in town by far.
Very charming place! Recommend Enchiladas de Mole.

Backstreet Cafe
Best Valentines Dinner Menu ever! It is an old House with tons of charm that has been transformed into a restaurant.
They Always have some new dishes. Wine menu is really good. Attentive service. Parking can be tricky though.

If you feel like slumming you can go to San Leon and try out Gilhooley's oyster bar. They have the best oysters around and the beer flows cold. Also for great seafood Topwater Grill is very good. It's in San Leon also. Gilhooley's is a no kids establishment.

Wife and I went to Windy City Grill & Pizza here in the Woodlands. It's a Chicago pizzeria and it was outstanding! Probably the best pizza I have ever had. It's a small place and the owner is an old italian guy from Chicago. Super nice guy and we chatted about the windy city for some time while waiting on our pizza to be made. My family is from Chicago so he was excited to hear about that. He told us all about the old times and how he hasn't changed his families pizza recipe that's been around generations. We got our pie and I was floored. It was AMAZING!

About - Windy City Grill & Pizza

If you love pizza drive across Houston and check this place out!
