From what I know this is best suited for a fish only tank. They need a tank with calcium level between 350-450 to assist in growth and health. They will eat coral polyps, will eat some algae but prefer mussels, or pieces of fish. They will also eat any slow moving inverts as well.

I know some will eat soft corals but I am not too worried about that

I can't swear with certainty but I think I remember reading a post on another forum awhile back that someone had a problem with a cowrie making a buffet out of his/her SPS. Just thought I'd bring it up in case my memory serves me correctly.

have 2 in my 600 gal about 2months now, have not seen them bother anything at this point.

I had one in a 7 gallon sps tank for a long time with no problems......Of course that doesn't mean they're safe or won't harm anything, lol.
