To Reef Crystals or Not (1 Viewer)

I have been buying the regular Instant Ocean salt water mix at Petco. I think $50 for 160 gallon bucket. I see the reef crystals version is $80 for what appears to be the same amount.

Is it really worth 60% higher price?

Depends on what you're keeping. High coral load, worth it. Low coral load, not worth it. It also depends on what, if anything, you're currently dosing.

Not dosing anything, except I picked up a bottle of kent calcium supplement just to make the water a little cloudy. my Ca level is right around 450.

Seriously though, I don't have any SPS coral. I do have hammers, torches, frogspawn, and candy cane. I figure shrooms and kenya trees don't need anything special. I may add a monticap in the future but that's it for now. So you say regular salt mix is good then?
