Hey I had the same problem for months. I have had mine awhile and I modded it to play dvd-r backups 
There used to be a url hack in the Target inventory system that you could see how many wiis were in stock, they put a stop to that (thats how I got mine). I walked in the store and told them they had wiis and to get me one from the back...the employees didn't even know lol. Target gets shipments generally every 2-3 weeks (usually around 11 wiis), be nice to the people who work there and they'll usually tell you when they get em. They usually hold them until Sundays. Get there at opening. Find out when your local gamestop gets shipments they get about 3 every weekon the same day (mine was always on Mon or Thurs.). Good luck, it took me 3 times waiting at 6am before I finally got one.

I called the local Gamestop/EB Games. They said call ever week day around 1pm, as that's when they get their shipments (at this location). Took 3 days and I got one, but I got lucky. They say they normally get a couple every 1-2 weeks.

Go to slickdeals.net and check the gamers forum. They usually find out about releases before they happen. You can find out which retailers should get them and then show up early. If you can't wait, I saw a used one on craigslist for $280. Good luck.

They're apparently holding them for Sunday the 22nd. You'll have to get there an hour or two before they open, but you should be able to get one then. This info comes off the forums of cheapassgamer.com, so it's not guaranteed. However, this is how I got wiis for my family.

We did the Sunday AM Target route on June 24th. Got there about 10 minutes before opening, they handed out numbers but there were only 7 of us in line and they had more than 10 units.
