Since you guys have helped so much i thought I would post pics as I progress...Here is a pic of the stand frame with tanks set before I start plumbing the tanks or covering the stand.
no need to drill to use a external pump.. just plumb it like a 'u' tube overflow ... use the same concept... just make sure the inlet of the tube is higher then the inlet of the pump.... the water will syphone to the pump once primed..( more like forced fed cuzz your pump will draw water in as it pumps out) when power is turned off you pump will stay primed cull the lowest place for the water to exit is the height of the outlet... and even if it is not.. most of the time ( like 99%) of the time the water that is in the 'return' side' will re-prime the pump as it falls...
your return pump size is dependent on your overflow... get a pump that is a tad stronger then what your overflow do... then put a 't' on the 'outlet' side add a valve and reroute the water back to the sump... sound a little confising but it will be clear .....
think of the 'h' the bottom left leg of it is where you have your return pump... the top leg is where it dump back to the main tank... lastly is the bottom right leg... this is where you put the valve on.. this will dump the water back to the sump if the pump is to strong.. you adjust the valve till you have the right amount...
reason why you set it up this way and not just add a valve strait between the pump and MT return us because when you 'throttle' the pump back, you restrick the pump making it having to work harder and run hotter and more watt draw... but with the 'h' design you just reroute the water instead of restricting it... it keeps the pump running constant ..
Yay me! I Drilled the tank Saturday with success! 2 holes on the back! and i didn't crack it! Then on Sunday my friend and I finished the stand all except the doors and canopy. I will have pics up tonight of the progress. Tuesday I pick up a Mag 9.5 pump from a member on here. Then I gotta go buy all the pvc. I
I looked at Home Depot for acrylic to put the baffels in my sump and OMG it was expensive! Is there a better place to get it? Or anyone have some they are willing to sell cheap. I need atleast 4 pieces that are 12 x 12 2/8.
why not glass on glass??? ( im thinking you have a glass aquarium for the sump/fuge) just be carfull with the sharp edges.. maybe get a sanding block and sand it down some???
I finally had the baffels cut tot the right size and installed in the sump. I finished the plumbing from the tank to the sump.
Now I need to finish plumbling the return side. I aquired a Mag 12B pump that I will submerge on one end of the sump. At the moment I am using 1 inch PVC. Can someone tell me how to attach the pump, what fitting or fittings and size fitting I will need. The one I have did not come with a manual unfortunately, and I haven't seen one of these installed.

I believe leave well enough alone and stick with the overflow method not to risk shattering glass while drilling holes for bulkheads. I've seen excellent functioning overflow reef tanks. So just buy you a overflow box with the desired bulkheads for drains already made in them and go from there. Water drains from overflow box down to sump and either submerged pumps or external pump pumps water back up to tank. Maybe should try to

Sorry does the pumps have threads on the outlet or inlet sides. If so just go to plumbing shop with pump and maybe someone will help you covert fittings to 1". If not you will have to use hose that will fit over inlet or outlets with hose clamps
Thanks for the info... yeah so far I have already made the inlet side by drilling the back of the tank and plumbed it all up....
What I am wondering now is the return side. and yeah I think you are right I should just take the pump with me and try and get it all to fit right... I was just wondering about what others have used so maybe I can be a little ahead of the trial and error.
A Mag 12 has 3/4" male threads on the outlet side. You just need a Reducing Female Adapter PVC fitting that is a 1" slip on one side and female 3/4" threads on the other. Should be able to find it at Home Depot or Lowes.

That will screw onto the Mag 12 and youll be able to PVC cement in 1" PVC on the other side.
To make life easier put in a ball valve and a union (or a true union ball valve) so you can take the pump out and clean it later.
Well the plumbing is all done. I filled it all with water and ran the test run. Took me a bit to figure out the water levels and adjust the valves to get the right amount of water running at what speed but finally all levels are staying even and running smooth!!
Now I have to get more sand and more live rock and aquascape this thing. Also gotta get mud and cheato and stuff for the sump. If you have any for sale let me know. Or if you are good at aquascaping and wanna help or give tips Please let me know...lol

Looks great!! I would be worried about the height of your baffles in you sump though. It doesn't appear you have enough volume left over in case of a power outage. I have a 29g for my sump and there is 6" from the top of my baffles to the top of my sump and when you kill my pump the sump fills all the way to the top minus about 1 1/2".
