I'm looking to upgrade my lighting.
Due to space problems I have only 2 choices, VHO or PC's. In either case I can only use 2 bulbs (1-96W Actinic & 1-96W 10K).
Which way would you go??????
P.S. MH won't work.

Bill,
The tank sits on a kitchen counter with cabinets above it. I've looked at quite a few MH fixtures and none appear to work with the cabinet trim. If the fixture would allow the bulb to sit right down on top of the tank it might work. I only have 2 1/2" of clearance.

So are you looking to do a fixture or retro kit?
If you can fit 2 VHO bulbs, you can fit a retro MH, the only concern is how high off the water is the bulb gonna be.

That's my concern.
The bulb will only be about 2" off the water. The VHO's and PC's are allot cooler and I already have a heat problem in the summer.

VHO.
I have had both and you will love the VHOs. The super actinic VHOs are awesome compared to the PC actinic.

if at anytime you can fit VHO bulbs, i would much rather go vho, they look so much better. PC's are really best for small applications on nano tanks where it's difficult for vho.

I have PCs in my 200 and kick myself for that decision. As soon as I can afford to change them I'll go to VHO. MUCH better coloration on the corals.

VHOs are the way to go. Go to your LFS and compare the two side by side and you will see the difference.
