Just started dosing vodka( a couple of weeks in) and also purchased a biopellet reactor and these new NP biopellets.

I was thinking of crossing over in a month so that the reactor is live and stopping vodka gradually.
Any thoughts on this plan?
I could also dose vodka for ever but would need a dosing pump

Are we talking Kettle One Vodka or is there some chemical that we are calling Vodka, seriously?

Well I wouldn't use Stoli Elit:Himalayan, or even grey goose, but yep- straight from Spec's vodka. Small amounts promote bacterial growth- search for vodka dosing, you definitely need to use the correct regimen so your tank doesn't get a hangover.

Awesome! Yet another reason to keep my home stocked with Vodka!

That should be fine since it will take a few weeks for the pellets to actually kick in. Just monitor your parameters closely. Namely Nitrates and Phosphates. If you notice a climb, you may want to dose a little more vodka. If you notice a dump, you may want to lower the dose even more (or stop, altogether) and start tweaking your effluent rate from the reactor.

Good luck! Pellets are much stabler, IMO.

Thanks Flipside- that was my thoughts exactly.ill phase out the vodkas gradually to let the biopellets kick in.
I don't have effluent control however as it's a ReefOctopus vertex (or cyclone or whatever!)reactor.
