I recently purchased a TEK5 T5 unit with 6 bulbs for my 75 gallon.
I run a Remora pro as my hang on skimmer.
The TEK 5 light housing is very large and will almost cover your whole tank if you get a unit with 6 bulbs.
The Remora produces micro bubbles that come out with the skimmed water. This is not a probelm as I have a box to trap the bubbles.
What is a problem I just noticed while doing a water change, is the the TEK5 unit sits so far back, the micro bubbles from the Remora outout are popping up and hitting the TEK5 unit.
I had a fair amount of water both on the outside and inside of the TEK5 unit. If you own one you know there are a lot of openings for heat exchange. Obviuosly water inside the unit is not going to be a good thing and will porbably cause damage once it builds up enough.
I did find a solution if you are in my predicment for Remora owners. I dremelled a hole on each side of the Remora out put shoot. I then cut a thin piece of plexi glass ( From Home Depot) 6x6 ". I dremmel holes on each side of it as well. I used plastic zip cords to attach the plexi to the out put shoot on the Remora so that it sits over the shoot and the hangs on the front edge of the skimmer box. I am amazed at the amount of splash from bubbles that is being caught by the plexi.
I just wanted to share this in case some one else has my set up and does not realize the bubbles are causing potential damage to your light.
