After multiple text messages about my 2 year old (from day one after signing the lease) and the fact that she basically demanded to enter my house to see “what I was sawing on in the kitchen” after I had hammered 2 shims under the stand in the living room and even told her exactly what I was doing. That was the final straw!
We were walking on pins and needles here from day one, but we are right on the bay so we tried to keep silent and kill her with kindness. That actually did work for a little bit. However, about every 1-2 months the bipolar text messages kept coming in.
It was really crazy because she seemed to be a sweet old lady. She’s a school bus driver, super nice when we spoke several times before I signed the lease. She just seemed like the average person. Boy was I completely wrong. That couldn’t have been any further from the truth.
After the first day of moving in… it wasn’t even dark outside yet and she was already texting because Maleah (my 2 yr old) was playing “too loud” in the back yard. It was literally 5pm and the sun hadn’t even set yet. She says…“is this gonna be every evening?” It was then that I knew I may have messed up.
Then it kept going down hill from there. The next text was “Maleah is too load in the house.” “She cry’s too much.”
Then it was “what are you cooking”…”I can smell it in every orifice of my house.” Yet…we weren’t cooking anything.
Then it was…”Jared, what did you do with that little bush in the flowerbed.”
Me: It died…so I threw it away and bought another plant at Lowe’s. Would you like me to pay you for the bush?
Her: “No, I can’t believe you threw it away.” “No it’s fine, it’s just a bush.”
Next, she says Maleah needs to be medically evaluated because of her crying. I thought…yeah… I worked at Texas Children’s for 5 years, and I’m pretty sure this is normal behavior for a 2 yr old. ESPECIALLY, since we’ve been in the middle of a Pandemic.
So things continued down this path with her random bipolar text messages. My other neighbor told me he wanted to warm me “so bad”, that she ran off the guy before us. Same situation…married couple with a little girl. Apparently, she called the police on them 24/7. The guy told the neighbor “we’ll I guess we’re gonna need to move Rick, she won’t leave us alone.” Even the previous owner told us this lady was not stable. That he couldn’t get her to leave so he finally let her buy the whole building to get rid of her.
Which leads me to this point right now. She demanded to enter my home and ran into the kitchen where I WAS NOT “sawing” anything. Lol. Then she went off on me and said that I didn’t need to be fixing the foundation. I said…with all due respect…this small piece of wood is actually called a shim. I was leveling this stand right here behind you. Then I really messed up! I couldn’t help but to let the cat out of the bag about what the neighbor had told me about her and what she did to the previous tenant. She went into a cussing fit about their Pitbull that almost ate her granddaughter… blah blah blah. It was completely wild and to be quite frank…psycho.
At that point I let her cool down and agreed with everything she said until she left my house and went back to her side. She does own the entire building now and I swear she must keep her ear to the wall and listen anytime she hears a noise.
I told my wife that is the final straw. Nobody is going to come in a cuss in this house! I grabbed my laptop and promptly wrote a letter of notice that we’re moving out. I filmed myself handing it to her with my wife as a witness and this ignoramus had the audacity to tell me not to move out after she completely acted a fool and cursed me in my living room. I said…Cindy…I’m really sorry, but the decision has already been made sweetheart.
With that said…I grabbed another Luxury apartment the same afternoon. The build will go forward! My leg is doing slightly better and I’m hopeful things will be back to simi normal by Christmas! I have half of my stuff moved already. Movers will be here for the big stuff this Tuesday and David with Urban Aquatics will be her Wednesday if all goes as planned. Sump should be here this week. So next week everything should be ready to setup.
