i have some frogspawn that has been in the tank for over a year but all of a sudden some of tentacles are disappearing and leaving only the skeleton. the only new additions are some galveston peps that i put in a week ago and a damsel 3 weeks ago. all other coral are doing good. any ideas? thanks

the peps would take it out if the frogspawn head was sick and on its way out, but I would not peg them to eat a fully grown healthy individual

Man i have the same problem. i had a frogswpan with about 6heads and a hammer about 5heads that i got from jlord, They were doing great man for a while till i added galveston peps in the tank. Now every day theres half a head missing then next day that other half is missing till theirs nothing but skeleton left. I see the peps sittin on top of the frogspawn just tearing away at it

Frogspawn

I recently added some of those galveston peps into my tank..about 1 dozen or so and like everyone else...My frogspawn is slowly disapearing...Never have seen them eat or pick at it but they were all thriving and doing well until i added these buggers...Now how to catch them and get them out.

Just my 2cents worth..

These peps will also go after acan.. Loss one colony but they do go after atapsia..zoa, acro, dendro, and ducan are safe so far in my tank.

Generally peps dig stinging celled organisms. IME the g-town peps are more tenacious than reg store bought peps (though I dont know why a couple weeks in captivity would make that big of a difference). Make sure your anemones have a host or they are next.

Peps

Gee....Seems i am going to have about 15 peps to give away soon if i can catch them...They took care of my aptasia issue within a day or two...But i can't afford for them to start snacking on all the other good stuff.

WHAT they go for anemones too? no wonder i never saw my anemone again =(

Fa Sho. If they dont have a host to fend of the peps... The outlook is bleak. Its really important during acclimation to keep an eye on them. Since the nems sometimes like to hide in the rocks when introduced, them are PERFECT prey for the peps, who generally chill in the rocks during day. :( Sorry Hong

Has anyone seen them while doing this, I have not lost anything in my tank due to these Peps, sounds like the Swine Flu. I have not lost any anemones, Zoas, Hammer, Frogspawn the only things i have lost was my Anthelia, Xenia, Some DIBS and my Zoa eating nudis.

(Frogspawn & Hammer died off because of AC outage and heat killed them)
