I have a Icecap 250 with a ROIII that I just got from another reefer. It came with a brand new XM20k bulb. One problem, the Icecap doesnt work with the XM bulb. So, I just want to know what bulbs people use. I was thinking about hamilton 14k's so I get good growth and color.

The BLV 10k is a good one that has a big spike in the blue wavelength. I like the Aqua Connect 14k, but it's expensive and hard to get.

Right now I run a 150W BLV 10K on an Icecap electronic ballast. But my wife feels it is to bright white, so I thought of going the Hamilton 14k, but will probably go Radium for 99 dollars.

I'm running 20k from Icecap that Chris sent me for Beta test. I'll post some pics this weekend. One side is 20k Icecap and the other half is 14k hamilton. They are both ran on PFO HQI ballst. I used to have the XM 20k, but the 14k Hamiltons are lot brighter IMO.

I think the 20k IceCap bulbs are brighter than the 20k XM, but 14k Hamiltons are more brighter. However, the IceCap 20k's compare to the XM 20k's are much less blue. IMO the XM 20k are way too blue. After testing both IceCap 20k, XM 20k, and Hamilton 14k. I love the 14k Hamiltons. Lots of blue and crisp white light. Here are some pics.
