I bought two mushroom polyps-ricordea and they both disappeared off the rocks they were on. The line-up or suspects in the tank include the following:
1) star/stripe puffer
2) mandarin gobie/dragonet
3) lawnmower blenny
4) hermit crabs

Can anyone tell me if any of the above suspects might be eating the polyps?

Thanks.

The puffer maybe, but I'd be MORE worried about a polyp-eating snail. I got a bad peice of zoa a few month back, which had this "cute little" snail on the rocks (for FREE!!!). After about 48 hours, the polyps I had bought were GONE, and I caught that cute little such-and-such on another zoa colony. He met the great porcelain god in the RO room, and is no longer with us.....

It is your puffer. I had a dogface a while back and didn't realize that he would munch my shrooms and soft until I caught him in the act. They also like anemones. Puffers aren't really reef-safe, they should really be kept in a FO.

Thanks for the advice. I will transfer the puffer to my fish-only tank ASAP. My guess would have been the singapore/vermiculated angel fish, because one of the websites indicated that they had to be monitored in a reef system.

Your angel is more likely to chow on sps and lps, at least from what I have seen.
