Over the course of the last two months, two of the polyps of my large candy cane appear to be disconnected from the skeleton of the coral and swell up like baloons. I have an arrow in the picture below to show what I'm talking about.

The thing is now huge... larger than a softball, but smaller than a soccer ball. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it. Here's a shot I took last night before I left the office:

Has anyone had this happen to them? Did the coral die or was it just part of its individual appearance? Do I have anything to be concerned about?

PS - Most everything else in the tank is quite happy and extending nicely during the day, and I feed DT's three times a week.

I have heard of them "melting off" and forming a new candycane. I think you might be having a baby 8O

this candy cane is under PC lighting, not MH, so we'd have to count this out as a possible cause.

They filter feed too. DT's works well.

I do put some mysis in a couple of the mouths from time to time though... and they grow FAR faster when you do this.

Rapid growth is not my goal though. Real estate is becoming valuable in my tank
