Can a WH7 ballast handle two 4' URI VHOs?

Hello Jim,

Yes, A WH 7 is rated for 220 watts load and each 4' URI VHO (T-12) is rated for 110 watts. See the link below for more information.

A lot of people do it, but it's not supported and the results are subpar. Either you trash the bulbs or underdrive them, depending on how you wire it up. But there's no reason to mess with the WH7 and all these issues anymore, since this ARO ballast came out which REALLY supports 2 4' VHO bulbs, and is the same price as the WH7:

Would 2 36" VHO bulbs be enough for my 46 bow? and what bulbs combination should I use for soft corals only?

Thanks Mikester,

I wasn't aware of this new ballast. This definitely seem like the way to go. Much cheaper to buy 2 of these than to buy an Icecap 660.
