Yellow tang looking strange (1 Viewer)

I followed everyones advice on acclimating the new fish into my tanks with the drip method. Not so bad. I have a yellow tang which has been there about 2 weeks. He hides all the time and he has these big areas of grey around gus eyes and gills. What the heck is that? If he dies and I put another one in, that one will get it too right whatever it is? Thanks

Sounds like a bacterial infection, prob from rough handling. Did you check all of your water params? Something might be outta whack.

how do u treat bacteia infection? what brand medication?

I know I am not putting a thing in that tank to treat it. Dont want to mess with the corals. I bought it at fishland. Funny thing is I have another tang from petco that looks great. I kinda want the funky fish to die so I can put the petco fish in. That one I am sure would get whatever the other one has if I put it in that tank

If its bacterial, chances are pretty good the new guy will catch it. It depends, though. Bacterial infections are treatable if you are so inclined, but that would require you catching him outta there and placing him in quarantine.

The only problem is catching him. Most of the time he is hiding and when he isnt he is rushing around like a psycho trying to get food as fast as he can before he hides again. Even if I could catch him I dont have a quarantine tank either so I wish there was something I could do.

I made a mistake on where I bought the fish at. It was City Pets not Fishland.
