I will never leave my fish behind...EVER!!

I think you guys will be OK. The wind gusts are pretty strong 50+, but the average winds will be a lot lower 30ish. That’s in League City and if it hold this track. I don’t trust the GFS. I only rely on the Euro models.

My dad’s house is in Beaumont. They are in big trouble.

I’m gonna stay until tomorrow afternoon. Then leave for a day and enjoy an open road evacuation.

Not sure if it was Rita or Ike but we evacuated and were stuck on the freeway for 4 hours. After that I promised myself to never leave my home to evacuate unless we leave way ahead of hurricane.

I'm holding out. This is my first hurricane ever (moved to to Texas from Cali in 4/18), so I'm a little nervous.

Generator + 5g of extra fuel (all the containers I could get). I've moved all the general stuff inside out of the way. Even lifted the car in the garage onto jack stands (don't expect flooding, but just in case). No boards for windows. Apparently all the houses were supposed to come with them, but the owner before must have tossed them because they are no where in the house and not in the attic or garage. This is my biggest worry really...

Chiller + spare return pump are ready. I have about 40g of saltwater already made and ready. I have an empty 40g breeder that I moved upstairs and if I need to move the fish/corals to higher ground I can. I may move my coral / invert QT stuff into my DT if needed. Everything has been in there for 58 days, but I typically do the 76 day cycle. I'm sure it's fine, but I'll only do that if I have to. Also have a battery powered airpump.

Sounds like you’re ready! Freeze some bottles of water in case you run out of gas and the power is off for longer than anticipated.

How long are gas stations usually without power?

I could run a cable from my cars. I have a really big inverter...and I drive a Volt... so technically... lol

Man it could be a few days or weeks depending on where the storm goes. If Houston took a direct hit from a Cat 3 so many trees would come down and damage the infrastructure that it could cause a 3 week+ power outage for some people.

I think of us may see power outages for at least 2-3 days depending where you live and if it holds the current track. Mostly those that are south of the beltway.

Right now, Port Arthur & Beaumont are probably looking at a 2 week power outage in some areas. Maybe longer.

A few days at most. You just gotta hunker down as they say. I pick a room in my house and locate a window unit there, trying to seal in cool air in that area and power a tv. My tanks I run the wave makers and the return pump at 50%. They will be fine with no lights for a few days, mine were anyway.

You can run the extension cords tomorrow where you need an outlet. Do it before the power goes out.

I think we’re gonna be ok for this one, but having a plan is the smart move.
