So far I’ve only found the one fireworm. I do have at least 2 pencil urchins and a pistol shrimp. I’ve had the kp rock in my holding system for about a month now. Not feeding. Just light. My hope was to starve out any undesirable crabs and such.
Some hitchhikers and my first corals for the new tank. These are still in my holding system for now. The fireworm was evicted with tongs.
The corals were ordered from www.pacificeastaquaculture.com This was one of my go to vendors when I had my original tank when I lived in DC. They were...
Sandstorm time. I also need to level out the sand a bit. I built the rockwork on the tank bottom, then added sand. Not the easiest to get it evenly distributed. But I won’t have to worry about the rock getting undermined. I’ve also got the 30 lbs of kp aquatics rock to add in a week or so once I...
So far I’ve found several brittle stars and a pistol shrimp. The rock looks really nice. This is the premium rock from KP. The shrimp got tossed into the sump. If he lives I’ll figure out something to do with him.
Good point on the throttling effect. My intent with the design is that I'm not counting on the flow through the sump for much circulation in the tank, I'll do that with wavemakers. So, this will be a relatively low flow system which would reduce the impact on the pump. I'd love to have dual...
So I'm looking to build a manifold for my sump return line. Initially I'm looking at 3 outlets. 1 to a refugium, 1 to UV and 1 bypass. My plan is to take 3 3/4" T fittings and solvent weld them together with a pvc stub so they are butt to butt. For the blanked off end, I will have a threaded...
So I finally got my new aquarium and stand. Glasscages did amazing work, but they only offered painting for the stand finish. So, I went with an unfinished stand and am looking for local recommendations to get the stand and canopy stained. Thanks!
The tank is here!!! It ended up being about 113 gallons. The stand and canopy are unfinished, so my next step is to either stain them myself or get it done professionally. Any recommendations on reasonable painting/staining services would be appreciated. I can bring the pieces to the shop.
With a ground probe the GFCI will trip as soon as there is stray current. The ground probe, if done properly, directs stray current to the third (ground) leg so to would create an imbalance that would trip the GFCI.
