I had another starfish at one point that loved to chow down on asterinas. Red Fromia, I think?
As for the Zoas. . .Regal Angelfish seem to do the trick from past experience. They may nip at other LPS (or Clams) also.
I am super disappointed, but I can’t go today. You can give my seat to someone else if there was a waiting list. Was really looking forward to this.
Thanks for the mentions! "The Clam", my Oregon Tort colony, and my large Cali Tort (really more of a stag) colony are getting pretty mature. ;) Me, not quite as mature. 🤪
Thanks to all the offers for help!
Cody helped me get it fixed up Wed evening. Planning to put the reactor back online later tonight to give the glue a good 48 hours to cure. In the meantime I discovered a fun fact - it took about 14 ounces of two part per day to keep alkalinity stable in my...
I'll take advantage of Cody's acrylic kung-fu. Will let everyone know if the repair is successful in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

Or is there somewhere in Houston that carries it? The union on my GEO calcium reactor just disconnected from the lid and I need to glue it back in place.
Manually dosing two part for my Ca/Alk demand will get old really fast. Also, I need to get it running again and stabilized before I...
Clarification on my post since some folks got excited and sent me PMs - not everything in the list of corals I am bringing will be available for $5 or $10. Some will be more. Some really ugly frags might even be less. But I will probably have at least 20 frags of various things that will be...
I'm still planning to try to make it, but will be there about 12:30 at the earliest.
Need to clear out my frag tank, so will be bringing lots of $5 and $10 SPS frags. Also some larger colonies of both acropora and montipora.
Including:
Ancient Table Acropora (lime green/purple polyps)...
Ugh. Talked with my wife/events coordinator. I have to go pick up my daughter from camp in Crockett, TX on the 29th.
Not sure if the 22nd would still be an option?
The tank is about 300 Gal. From my experience, Regal angels LOVE to eat Zoanthids. I don't really have any LPS, but anything meaty is probably a risk. I did have an issue with the regal picking on the clam. He got banished for a few months and hasn't bothered it since I put him back.
If a...
Very nice. My 6x24 Geo reactor still has the sloppy plumbing with vinyl tubing, and the union on top of the lid is wearing out. So I may have to do something similar in the near future.
The title says it all. After my tank upgrade adventure and trying to keep everything cool in my garage during the Texas summer, I now have two 1/3 HP chillers that are useless.
One has a dead compressor and the other has a cracked chamber where the water flows through.
I could always put...
As most of you know, all of my livestock is currently in my garage while I get the new tank set up. I intended to have it running back in the house (and with A/C) by now, but the new setup got delayed.
It has been staying cool with two 1/3 HP chillers running. However, one of those chillers...
The Hatch Chile salsa was excellent, but this didn't smell quite as good. I did a water change right before I left, and the water change water was really warm, so the tank got up to about 82. I turned the Halides off while I was gone to let it cool down faster.
Looks like the water change...
Back in 2002, I had a 58 Gallon reef tank that was quickly running out of room to house my growing Derasa clam.
Fast forward to 2013, and I have a 120 Gallon reef tank that is quickly running out of room to house my growing Derasa clam.
So I want to upgrade and fix some of the things I don't...
I need to replace my two 40gal gas units in the attic. Thinking about doing it myself - can't be any harder than plumbing a closed loop!
Send me a PM if you've done it before and would be willing to help. I will trade free frags, food, and beer for assistance.
Thanks,
Les
