Hi just bought one of these over at Dr. Foster it is a retro fit. While inspecting it noticed the note on the ballast and it says to keep it away from tank, about 12 feet? Is this an error or what. I intended to place the ballast under the stand. If I do would it hurt teh ballast or tank? Thanks.

I know they recommend 10 - 12 inches off the water for the bulbs. Never heard anything about position of the ballast.. I would not however recommend putting it in the hood if you can help it, it will cause greater heat in there if you do... As for the Stand. I would keep it away from any water. If you have a fuge or sump, I would put it as far away from them as possible..
