^thanks

ok plumbing gurus....
I double checked everything and I believe the noise is coming from the right side overflow pipe...
the left one drains down and is quite, is under the water about 1in" and isnt putting out many bubbles... the right side though, is loud and putting out alot of bubbles and is gurgling at the outlet..
I tried above the waterline and it just comes gushing out putting out alot of bubbles.. I tried closing the tee off at the refugium and it shoots bublbles too and its still as bad on the other side... I just put the tees on and they are right at the waterline and bubbles and stuff come out of the top and they make gurgling noises.. I exteneded the outlet and put a pipe on top to muffle it and it still makes the noise.. could it be because its teed off at the refugium or because there is a 90??

7hrs later I am still working on it.. I think i got it figure out though; after changing pipes, pulling the overflow pipes and saying many bad words...
the tank is slightly unlevel and the right overflow was recieving the bulk of the water being pushed up from the pump thus creating the massive surge in flow on that one pipe.. now to drain, level and refill, yay.. :|

Lookin good, real clean under your tank. If I noticed correctly you are using durso standpipes? That gurgling noise comes from not having a big enough breathe hole. Just gradually make the hole bigger until the water level in the overflow box stays level.

it was the vent hole at first ,but after I made it up to 1/4" size hole I realized the left overflow wasnt getting any water. I just finished shimming it and its currently filling up for FW test 2

Yeah, that might do it if ones not getting any water haha. I have dual overflows on my tank and the overflow that is tee'd to the refugium and then over to the other side of the sump runs significantly slower that the overflow with just 3 90's.

So last weekend I moved everything from my old tank and setup the rockwork. the stuff in the front either needs to be moved or sold, I just havent had time to move it yet.
The colors are washed out because I am running XM 10ks and VHOs but I am ordering some pheonix 14k soon.

Here is my tank as of 2-5-10 ; now I just need doors for the stand!!

Wow, your tank looks great.... in the future!

seriously though... looking awesome.
I'm also running XM 10k along with 2 ATI blue+ and 2 UVL Actinics.
I'm curious to hear what you think after switching to the Phoenix.

haha, that is actually a representation of what it will look like next month, it is to scale ;) fixed!

the XMs are cool because to me thats what real sunlight looks like and thats what it probably looks like in the ocean but it just doesnt give the coral enough pop... maybe because I am using 4ft VHO actinics on a 6ft tank, and the 10ks drown it out a little? .. I will post pics after I install the pheonixs

so apparently putting doors on the stand makes the temp on a tank go up 3 degrees by the end of the day.
