That is looking GREAT Mario. I really like your stand/cabinet design - looks great. But I have to ask - how did you do a 6' "span" across the front w/ no column to hold up the tank. I'd be worried a bit because glass does not bend so good.

Your corals are HUGE too! How long have you had them? I'm growing all of mine from frags and it's like watching paint dry :)

Cheers
James

hey James, I didnt want the center brace in the middle because I like how all the doors are side by side the whole way across, and it also makes it easier to work under the stand. Originally I was going to use a 75 gal for the sump but I ended up having to use a 50 due to the height on the 75 and not being able to get the lid off my skimmer easily.
I used a 2x8 for the top span and I am not getting any deflection. I put braces on the back mainly just because I had extra wood and I would have a place to mount some stuff just in case.

Some of the corals in my tank have been with me since I had my 29gal in 2007. Everything was moved over from my 72 so some stuff is pretty large.

here is a pic of the purple cap I gotfrom reefwatcher taken on 1-7-08

and I took this picture of it when I broke my 72gal down and moved it to my 180 on 1-29-10

I know for sure it has grown since then under these mh too.
You can also see my hammer frag and frogspawn in that pic now that i look at it haha

So its been 1yr since I posted the tank move/setup
There has been good, bad and ugly. I had a battle with red planaria that I have won with a wrasse, ugly algae sometimes pops up but seems to be getting in control and some cyano that pops up mysteriously and my purple cap isnt doing so well.. cant win them all I guess. I need new bulbs etc and I hope to get my calcium reactor online sometime this year lol

Here are some pics I took tonight.

Sweet!

It is tanks like yours that keep me on the build. Thanks for sharing!

QFE!!! Awesome tank, what is that coral, the big one on the top middle between the yellow fiji and the toadstool?

Yeah I scrolled through the whole thread and man, it's been a minute seen I saw photobucket on the scene. You can just upload pics directly to MARSH now. No second party needed. Is the tank still running?

It's been a long time man! Feel so weird to even be back on this forum after being so involved for so long. Luckily I have all the pics stored locally too, but photobucket is no longer the way haha

Even better. Tank is no longer running unfortunately. I lost everything and then lost the drive so I sold every last piece and retired. Just going through and checking out the site and reminiscing and now I see a wall in my house I want to put a tank in
