Niiice. The 180 is my favorite tank dimension. You mentioned halide, what wattage and how many are you going to run? What about flow inside the tank? Plans for livestock?

And welcome to Texas (and MARSH)!

LOVE HOUSTON.

Ditto. Never lived in NYC but have spent a lot of time there on business. Enough time to know that its a great place to visit but I would not want to live there.

Tank plans sound good. Be very anxious to see pics when its completely up and running. There are a lot of good reefers in the 290/HWY 6 area so you will have plenty of support.

You guys are just die hard country men, I love the big city, just the cost of living drove me out.
can't beat the ease of access, stores open late, bus and trains always running, and widely available.

I came from brooklyn, Great place! but it can't beat houston home and apartment prices.

with all that said, i would not go back to live, houston is much more cleaner and is a way better place to raise my son, plus i have met some wonderful people in houston through marsh.
How can i leave you guys?

just wish we had more trains and bus. save me on gas to go certain places.

Heck ya. The cost of living is insane. That's why we all get stuck here... it sucks to move anywhere else!

I wasn't at my computer before, on my phone.
But you can't compare NYC to houston unless you are comparing it to JUST the center of downtown houston. Which is pretty much dead. You just couldn't live there. On the other hand, I love to visit, but wouldn't want to live in NYC either. I had the option of going to art school there and turned it down.

NY State as a whole though I would take any day over Houston, and I know I'll get flamed for it, but it's true. And it's not a slam, it's just personal preference. But the schools are way better. Crime is way lower. The drinking water is cleaner, the scenery is gorgeous. It's very clean. There are 4 real seasons. When anyone says "NY", everyone thinks of Manhattan, and if you are not used to the hussel and bussel, i can see it being a turnoff. But the whole northeast is just a beautiful place to live.
I actually do like a lot about Houston, especially the diversity here vs other parts of Texas. I like the warm weather, the people are generally nice, the food is fantastic... I was just busting balls before. ;) But I also have some issues with it. The grass is always greener, nowhere is perfect, but if I had complete financial freedom, this would not be the place I would choose to live, nor raise a family. We're expecting in a couple months, and knowing what I know, the thought is downright scary.
Austin is actually more our style than Houston and is closer to the vibe you get from upstate NY, like Rochester and Syracuse. But we both have great jobs here (another advantage to houston and why we moved) and my family.
