Yes. Chewy and Fishcraze are both in your area and typically have frags available. Both are good guys and have great setups.

Great place! but it can't beat houston home and apartment prices.

Heck ya. The cost of living is insane. That's why we all get stuck here... it sucks to move anywhere else!

I wasn't at my computer before, on my phone.
But you can't compare NYC to houston unless you are comparing it to JUST the center of downtown houston. Which is pretty much dead. You just couldn't live there. On the other hand, I love to visit, but wouldn't want to live in NYC either. I had the option of going to art school there and turned it down.

NY State as a whole though I would take any day over Houston, and I know I'll get flamed for it, but it's true. And it's not a slam, it's just personal preference. But the schools are way better. Crime is way lower. The drinking water is cleaner, the scenery is gorgeous. It's very clean. There are 4 real seasons. When anyone says "NY", everyone thinks of Manhattan, and if you are not used to the hussel and bussel, i can see it being a turnoff. But the whole northeast is just a beautiful place to live.
I actually do like a lot about Houston, especially the diversity here vs other parts of Texas. I like the warm weather, the people are generally nice, the food is fantastic... I was just busting balls before. ;) But I also have some issues with it. The grass is always greener, nowhere is perfect, but if I had complete financial freedom, this would not be the place I would choose to live, nor raise a family. We're expecting in a couple months, and knowing what I know, the thought is downright scary.
Austin is actually more our style than Houston and is closer to the vibe you get from upstate NY, like Rochester and Syracuse. But we both have great jobs here (another advantage to houston and why we moved) and my family.

I'll agree with this post. NY State > Houston. Austin >>>> Houston. I love me some Texas. Houston is meh.

I like NYC as long as I'm there for seven days or less. Unfortunately it is the only taste of NY state that I have had. I REALLY like Austin. However Houston will always be my city. This city holds a place in my heart the same way Texas does. It's a shame that both are stuck in a downward cycle.

My wife is from Long Island, I like it out there. We used to go to the Fire Island and Jones Beach on the weekend. Then i brought her to Westchester County were I grew up. She was blown away by how pretty it is. We just went back for the first time in 8 years and visited a child hood friend of mine. Really made me miss it and made me sad we can't afford to raise a family there. We just have it too good in Houston! Nice house, nice cars, nice tank, nice jobs. Dammit! lol :D

Hey funkmaster... sorry... i made a wisecrack and ended up inadvertently hijacking your thread.

And you can keep an eye on the for sale forum. There's always lots of frags popping up in there from members.

Eric,

Welcome to the NW side!

I'm also in your area and have a ton of SPS frags (and a few colonies) available in my frag tank. PM me if you want to stop by sometime.
