So here's the beginnings;180 eurobraced, two corner overflows, diy background, 75 gallon sump?, Octo 2000XP, 2-250 MH, 2 96 watt T-5 actinic, not sure on pwerhead/ wavemaker, controller, or top-off yet, but looking. First to make a stand into existing wall structure, tank will sit on front ledge almost flush with front wall.

This part has me thinking, how to build from the ledge backwards? The top brace is coming off, not level enough. Also may not be strong enough.
Taking suggestions of course for the stand bracing.Note the wires running horizontal through all the studs :x Also, each of the vertical studs must be cut down about 1 1/2" in place. Some of our early requests for framing and ideas were lost in translation, so this is what we got to work with.

Nice move man! So I guess, after I get tired of my new tank the next move up is to build a home with an in-wall aquarium?? Is that the next part in the natural process???

Exactly Brent! It's an expensive build, with everything built around that sacred'Room' and yes, those are GFI outlets on their own circuit. But I dread reframing and building off of the existing structure, with wire ran through it. Maybe I could stand 2x4's perpindicular instead of the normal parallel stacking we do to beef things up a bit? Any structural people here got thoughts? We are looking at about 1900 pounds with tank and water.

I understand the lost in translation - I am glad I took off work when they where doing the wiring for my new room. I had to stop them several times and point to the blue print....

On the horizontal wire runs are you worried about stability? What about a frame that is built up behind the existing studs after they are cut down, all topped with 1" plywood? That way even thought the tank is flush with the existing wall the bulk of the tank weight would rest a beefier support system?

That is my new 'Sand dust Remover XP 2000! It was late, I couldn't wait for the water to clear up quick enough. It's my skimmer. The tank has been put together rather rapidly. We still have to make a light bracket, set up ATO, but, the tank is up and running, manually somewhat. All of the fish, inverts, corals seem okay so far. The 'Redneck Reefin' concept was rough for the last year and a half in that tub, but I know it was worth it, the fish are sure much happier.

Haven't took any post move pics of the tank yet, they are comin. Sump is good, a little small for the tank, but I can make it work. It is a cleaner set up than I had previously. I will show more later.

I just cut down the vertical studs to needed height, doubled up the top supports, it it more than enough support with the number of studs present.

It is really looking good Mike, glad to see it finally coming together for you. Hope the light worked out for you okay. Still waiting for that check to come in the mail. After spending a year and a half in that tub, I bet they sure are loving that tank again.

Thanks Jamie, but I don't have checking account! They do seem a little more comfortable.
