Anyone here run 2 Apex units? I have 1 running my main (biggest) tank, but recently set up another tank I'd like to control as well. I have an extra Apex brain (2016 wifi model) and an extra Eb8 unit. I could just link the EB8 to my current Apex but thought I might try setting up 2 just because I have them

Anyone else use 2. Just wondering if it is better to run 2 or try to run it all through 1 (this seems like a lot of outlets on fusion to monitor).

thx

I do. One for my display tank and one in the fishroom.

one has 2 eb8’s and one eb4.

the other has 4 eb8’s and one eb4 also have several pm1 modules (ph/temp) tied to this one.

Do you run across any issues? Do both come up in fusion, just with different names?
I run a few of them and never have any issues. It makes a separate profile for each apex and everything always seems to work fine via fusion and wifi, no showing the wrong probe from another tank or anything like that.

I would imagine it’s similar to how you can view a friends apex if they invite you.

Out of curiosity, couldn’t you just add extra modules to duplicate your main tank on your second tank? I’m not sure if that would be cheaper, but it might be an option. Plus, you would have everything under one dashboard. I added a module and a second temp probe for my secondary system and I like having it all in one dashboard.

Also, I reached out to Neptune last year about adding multiple tridents per apex, and they said you can add as many as you want, but they wouldn’t be able to run diagnostics on the second one, or something like that. It seems you could just unplug the working ones and let them go to town on the second one, but I’m not too savvy about their back end.

There is a limit to the total length of the aquabus so it wasn't really practical plus I live in fear of the head unit dying and having too many devices controlled by it.

See I have all the parts to add an extra system, plus I have extra extra PM1 & PM2 modules to add if I wanted to piece it together. My current dash board is pretty full, I didn't want to clutter it up more is why I was thinking just add a second Apex.

Currently I have 2 tanks on my Apex (main display & reefer 170). Though the 170 I'm only controlling the pumps & temp.

This 3rd tank I'll have pumps, DOS, PH, temp & Salinity. So a pretty full set-up outside of lights.
