i think americans in general have way too many freedoms. c'mon...how does porn fall under freedom of speech? honestly.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...
it only looks like the govt can't pass a law supporting one religion over another. i'm not a religious person, but i do respect the fact that this country was founded on religious beliefs (more specifically christian beilefs). i can choose whatever i want to believe, but that doesn't mean other people can't support their own religion, or that our gov't can't support its roots.

Politicians should not vote on their religious believes but by what the general population likes. They are there to represent their districts not themselves.

i dont really care for organized religion. does that mean i dont have the right to live here anymore? or that i dont have a voice?

You have the right to speak your opinion and the right to live here... just as long as it is legal. Brandon has the right to not be a religious person. I have the right to be religious. All three have our individual rights just as long as we do not try to push our beliefs on each other. It is ok to speak your mind just as long as you are trying to make a point. You will have others who do not see it your way. This is America. Freedoms are protected under the constitution. Thank GOD for that.

just something I noticed....not knocking it since I am a Christian myself but.....

7. Welfare - max two years - mandatory birth control while taking on welfare. Mandatory job training while on welfare.

8. Stop attack on the Christians. Stop taking down crosses and nativity scense. Bring back Merry CHRISTMAS.

probably negate themselves there....if I'm not mistaken birth control is not christian like.... :? 8)

But I do agree that those are strong points you have made!

Also with the sending back of immigrants would that be just those recently crossed over, those only without greencards or just plain 'ole any immigrant? :D I know that if it meant any immigrant this country would probably be pretty empty.

Quoc,

The reason I would make the birth control mandatory is because, somehow I doubt I could enforce abstaining. As for birth control being non Christian I believe it's only the Catholic's who teach that, but as a Catholic let's just say that is not an enforced rule.

The only way of making birth control mandatory is to have penalties for having children that those can not afford. Welfare will only be a temporary fix. I would first give it for 3 months and no more than 6 months but after that you would loose your child tax credit. It would be like having to pay taxes on your unemployment. Yes, it would help those out for a quick fix but at the end of the year, you must pay the government back. Loosing the child tax credit would be the same as paying the taxes on welfare checks.

Why not do away with welfare all together? that would probably help stop it.

I see what you are saying though Chris which has probably been the main argument in the welfare issue for as long as I have known about welfare.

can we modify this thread/vote to reflect those who dropped out, or would it be a waste of time?
