Thanks, looks like the regular is about $46 (OOS atm), I wonder if I'm really saving much by putting it all together myself. The only thing I'd be interested in really is adding a 2-1 valve manifold to it so I can still run propane or NG.
the rest of the stuff in the ebay "kit" was hardware and brackets that were basically useless. If you have enough leftover carriage bolts in your garage, drill thru the frame, mount the regulator, attach the hose. i don't know about the manifold bit...mines came with a separate gas hose (like the ones on a BBQ pit) and connection point. If i have to "reverse" it, wouldn't be a big deal, use the hose that came w/ the generator. would take 10 minutes tops. Propane and NG might require different pressures.

Me on the north side without a damn drop. I’m up waiting with my home generator ready to go. I might be up for a while before I see any action. The Doppler shows it coming in a few hours though.

power out yesterday around 10:00 pm. ran the genny until 2:00 am, shut it down, and went to bed. Found out I left a switch "on" and it killed the battery when I woke up. Some things are hard to do in the dark. Was going to grab a battery out of the car to jump-start it. Luckily the sucker pull started and has been running since 7:00 am. Amazing. Small lessons, make sure it's 100% off before you go to bed. Nice to have full AC.....tank did just fine, no circulation for a few hours.

All said, got the teenager "trained", setup time in less than 5 minutes to roll out the natural gas hose, connect the 50A cable, get the generator started.

Why am I not surprised to see the King of the K.I.S.S. Principle posting a thread like this. 😁 Glad your back, C! Hoping you’re glad to be back; especially considering where you and your family were!

I’m working on doing this mod to my house too. I luckily wasn’t impacted by the recent storm, but I read that we might have similar freezes in January, like we had this last February. I lost pretty much everything.

Thanks for posting this, brutha! Glad it worked out (although you draining the battery made me chuckle a bit). 😂

I’ll try to sketch out what I’m doing because I definitely would love some feedback on the plan from you (et al). Any way I go, due to the way my house is setup, it will cost a pretty penny. Gas meter is a long run for starters…
