So i have a 30 gal (36" x 12" x 16"h) that I will be drilling tomorow thanks to Scott letting me borrow his drill bits. I want a 3/4 return in each corner, and a 1" in the middle, lowermost portion of the back pain.

Im concerned about drilling to close to the edge of the piece of glass and breaking it. That being said, how much room should i leave between the edge of the hole (1.5" in this case) and the edge of the piece of glass for the returns.

Also the overflow bulkhead will be on the back piece of glass. How far from the bottom of the tank should I drill the hole?

P.S. Scott feel free to post up but I will probably just ask you in person tomoro.

The rule of thumb I've heard is to leave as much space between other holes and edges as the diameter of the hole. So here, at least 1.5" from the bottom of the tank. I'd probably go 2" or more to be safe.
