Does anyone here have a 30" wide (front to back) tank? How hard is it to reach the back of the tank, especially the lower part close to the sand bed??
I'm planning on an in-wall tank- the tank is in the garage, and there's no acess to the tank from the front. The tank dimensions are 6ft L x 2 ft H; but I can't make up my mind b/t a 26" wide or a 30" wide. Of course, the 30" wide would be awesome for aquascaping, but afraid it may be a pain in the rear to reach the front glass (the lower parts) for algea cleaning..

it's tough for me for not going w/ a 30" side. but since I won't have acess to the front glass from the front, i don't know how i'm going to reach the bottom of the front glass unless i'm willing to wear a snorkling goggle every cleaning time :)

Also, a 30" wide may require more pump/ powerhead power due to the bigger volume. But I try to stay w/ similar pump/PHs in my existing system to save energy costs..
I'm just trying to justify the decision myself so i don't feel so sorry

you would prob need a pair of tongs, then you wouldn't have to get your hands wet at all. 30" deep would be really sweet though.

What about using one of those floating algae magnets. I use one on the front of my glass and never have to use a metal blade/plastic blade scraper. if you don't like it stuck to the glass you can use it and then take it out until needed again.

I do use the algea magnets, but I don't want to use it to clean the glass close to the sand bed since sand particles could scratch your glass. The metal blades are better for that purpose.
However, I forgot that I can reach the front glass from both sides of the tank since the tank is in the garage w/ an open top- whew! i'm going for the 30" now.
