I will get back the 40G rimless back from Kyle. He drilled the holes and put in overflow box for me. I just want some ideas from MARSH member see what I should do with me new tank ( I bought this tank from David)
1. 40G rimmless with 24x24x16.
2. 250W MH pendent
3. Euroreef CS 100 Skimmer
4. Sump and refugium from 20G tank
5. Calcium reactor PM ( Option will add later when the tank ready to take SPS)
Here is a couple question I just throw out there and need some help.
1.Should I use sand or bare bottom ???
2. I plan to use all Tonga branch for LR no fujji
3. Or All fujji LR only no tonga
4. Should I just a strong return pump atleast 500gph or use a small pump?
Thanks you for all your help. I will post some pictures tommorow

1. I like sand better the BB.
2. I don't like the look of Tonga too much.
3. All Fiji!
4. I would go with a medium return pump and use powerhead.

1. I like a 1-2" sand bed
2. I could never get a good aquascape out of Tonga
3. I also used all Fiji-ish in my cube
4. No idea but my current 100g cube only has 1 mp40 & 1 modded K4 for flow.

You can do the 2 inch sandbed with some shelving rocks in it to have a foundation for Clam/Acans to grow up at the sand bed level.

The 2 island should work really well for you in this tank. Large mountain in the back and a smaller one towards one side on the front.

MP40 - YES!

Slow return - YES! I tried the enough flow through the sump to tumble my Macro method, IT DIDNT WORK!!!!

I suck at the rock thing, eklikewhoa gots alot of talent for layouts(Not for keeping things alive though :().

Calc Reactor - Too Complicated.

Nice work Kyle...I see ya...like the detail machining!

That's going to be an awsome tank Dennis.

1"-2" sandbed
all fiji rock
MP20 or nano-wavebox
stocked w/all cool Rics and Acans, maybe a few awsome zoas!

This will be a neat little cube. I like the dimensions. You asked what we think, so here I go...

1) I think a 250 MH will work great, and if you go this route then I would definitely do a SPS (with or w/o clams) tank. If you are keeping anything less, then I wouldn't bother adding such intense lighting, you could get away with less especially on a 16" tall tank.

2) I personally would not bother with a Ca reactor on a tank this size. I feel that it is just extra equipment to get in the way and crowd your stand. Besides, you could get away with Ca supplementation by dosing or additives or even with routine water changes.

3) I prefer sand to bare bottom, but it is just that... a personal preference. Additionally, I am not crazy about tonga rock.

4) I would run ~500/600gph return pump and good, random flow in the display (pair of K4's, pair of modded MJ1200's, a MP40W or tunze stream).

These are a few ideas of what I would do if it were my tank. Just a few thoughts, extrapolate from them what you will. Good luck with the set-up!

Even with a full blown SPS tank I would go with a 150 watt MH. The tank is only 16" tall. Also, you'll save money on energy cost with a lower watt bulb.

Good Luck!

Thank you all for your reponse. It's seem no one want the Tonga branches LR. I have save both fujji and tonga enough for this tank. I will try to set up with tonga first if not work out then I will change to fujji. I will drill the stand latter tonight and will update some pictures. Thanks
