Just dont like having that one corner blocked by the box from getting any light. I'd like to have the box go all the way down and have coraline cover it, that or gsp

It’s not a corner. It’s a thin box on the back wall of the tank. Mine is 1”w x 6”deep x 80” long. It’s hardly noticeable. But it’s your tank you can do as you wish.

The internal box is recommended because it helps skim more surface area. They also help prevent fish from swimming into the drains and regulate the water level. You can do it w/o an inside box, but you’ll need to cover the drilled holes and you’ll likely run into some water noise. I’d rather look at a thin overflow box than 3 big holes with gutter guard over them. ;)

doesn’t have to be that wide (out into tank).

I make mine 1” thick. Based off of the trajectory of the light, it literally casts zero shadow on anywhere you could potentially put coral.

Disregard the measurements. Obviously, you will build according your tank dimensions. Height is something that really needs to be thought out. I find that 36”-42” is about where most tanks sit. 38”-40” is a great height.

The perfect design for those that aren’t too familiar with building stands and for tanks that aren’t larger. Use lots of screws and get a Kregg jig. Wood glue is your friend as well.
