I believe you guys are mistaking this member, "Fragsnmore," with Don - "FragsandMore"... slight difference in spelling, yet confusing. Furthermore, I don't see why he would sign up with a second handle, which I thought was frowned against or not allowed for one user to have 2 screen names? And too, the location would obviously be incorrect if indeed it were Don posting. Moving on to the OP (original post) now...
A 250w halide over the 16" height of a 40g breeder will allow you to place SPS coral pretty much anywhere in the tank. Typically, in most applications reefers blast their coral with more than needed PAR value. The reflector you use will greatly increase or hinder overall PAR results also. It appears you have a quality reflector in your application so I would say you are well within the PAR value range for any SPS. Another little side note that I am sure you are aware of is due to the 36" length of the 40 breeder and lighting the tank with a single pendant, you will have "shadow" areas on either end. However, your lighting coverage front to back (over the span of 18") is plenty sufficient.
Currently I am using the same 250w 12k ReefLux bulb and I like the results and coloration. Additionally, I do not supplement any actinic lighting (from the pic it appears you are not either) and this was partly the reason for me choosing the 12k. However, I have a 175w 10k ReefLux on another tank that I prefer over the 12k. When it comes time to replace the bulb I am either going the Reeflux 10k route, or I am going to try an Ushio 10k...
You will notice more prominent red coloration throughout the Red Planet the higher you place it in the tank; conversely, you will see more of the green base/hues with a medium to lower light intensity. Obviously, let your personal preference in coloration determine where you place this piece. For me, the same goes for what to recommend in coral selection... It depends, what do you like?
